Read and Rise - The National Urban League and Scholastic published a great pamphlet called Rise and Read which outlines what children in each age group, from birth to age nine, should be reading, and what reading (or reading readiness) milestones should be reached at each age. Also included are suggestions for activities that will encourage reading and the types of books which are most appropriate for every stage.

Online interactive coloring at Coloring.com - This is something I hadn't seen before, your computer-able kids will love it! Choose a picture, then click on a color, click on a part of the picture, and it fills in with the chosen color. You can also choose to just print the uncolored version to color by hand. After your child has colored their creation online, you can e-mail, print it, or save it. Very cool!
